Hello again,

This blog comes to you from somewhere along the M6 on our way to Manchester, from Glasgow.

We were fairly nervous before the Brighton show, as we had management and label there to check up on us. To distract ourselves we went down to the pier and played some arcade games. Big Buck Hunter Pro being a particular favourite for its comedy value. This was only the second night using keys but luckily the song seemed to go down well. As we started the song and the lights went down, people raised their illuminated phones and glowsticks and swayed. It was a great moment for us, one that we'd never experienced before, or expected!

After Brighton we had a day off which we spent filing for Nuts TV. It was such a relaxed place, as you might expect. We went in to be told, 'here's the bar, help yourself to anything you like' so of course we did. After a short interview we had a slightly unconventional interview/game where we were asked to identify three different lagers, cheeses and two differently priced wines. All because of our rider specifications. I'm pleased to say that our senses of taste and smell did not let us down and we correctly identified everything! Next was a live performance then finishing off the bar.

That night we travelled up to Newcastle. Waking up right outside the venue was brilliant, out of bed and into the venue to shower. Unfortunately we had a bit of trouble with the shower, weak water pressure and fluctuating temperatures to not make for happy washing! The gig went really well though, the crowd were up for it and when everyone was jumping together it made for great viewing from the stage. We finished the night off with a tasty curry from just around the corner.
Tonight's show was yet another corker. Again the crowd really got in to it and started clapping along and jumping. From our point of view it's amazing to see so many arms in the air at one time! After the set we headed back to the dressing room via a route that unfortunately took us through the girls toilets, which caused us to get a few strange looks from the queuing ladies. We quickly explained and all was good.

Well that's you guys up to date so far, check back soon for the next one =)

      We're on tour again!

Tonight was the first of the shows supporting Scouting For Girls and it took place in Southampton. On this tour we're traveling around in a sleeper bus, which is very nice. At this very moment I'm sitting in our lounge traveling along the motorway towards Brighton.

The gig tonight was a good one, when we first walked into the room at Guildhall we were awestruck at the size of the place, it's definitely the biggest room that we've played (possibly even been in). Again we were lucky enough to have a piano in our dressing room which helped with our vocal practices and warm ups.

Tonight we played a song using keys for the first time, we were feeling pretty nervous before playing it but it seemed to go down quite well. We'll keep playing it and see how it goes.

After Glasgow we headed to Stockton On Tees. We'd been fortunate throughout the tour to have very few technical failures but inevitably this was the night! Luckily it wasn't anything as major as a power cut, but the kick pedal did fall apart half way through the second song. Step in tour manager Stevie and One Night Only's tech, Andy. Before the end of the third song the broken pedal had been replaced and we were back on our way!

The next night was sadly the last of the tour. The location: Birmingham. The venue had done their planning and left plenty of time for sound checks so everyone was nice and relaxed. The evening included stage invasions, guest appearances, champagne, group hugs and signed merchandise. The crowd seemed to have a good night too.

With the tour over we're having a week of preparation for the next one, we can't wait!

      Wednesday 12 March 2008

Good afternoon every one and all, today's blog comes from the tour bus travelling South on the M74 from Glasgow where we have just spent three magical nights. But there's so much to tell you about!

Firstly, the show in Manchester last week was pretty memorable, though due to delays, doors opened before we'd finished sound-checking so a few lucky folks who ran through the doors and over to the stage (to our surprise and delight) heard 'She Wants Something Else' twice that night.

Next we rushed Scotlandwards to Edinburgh to play to a very receptive Liquid Room which was a little bit totally wicked. The after-gig joys of that one involved packing up in a storm and lugging heavy equipment up a steep hill in the rain. We didn't let that dampen our spirits though (pardon the pun) as some thoughtful soul had put chocolate on our rider.

South of the border again, we enjoyed a country trek in the van through the Lake District (stopping off to pass judgment on some roast lamb) all the way down to Barrow-In-Furness. There was some pear cider in the dressing room. I don't know who it was meant for, but I certainly had some of it.

After the Barrow gig we headed off pretty sharpish to beat the weather (the night of the dreaded storms) and ended up driving all the way up to Glasgow. The Glasgow gig was the next evening and was fantastic, and one thing I'll say for Oran Mor is that the dressing room toilets are exquisite.

A day off yesterday was spent keeping up-to-date with our MySpace page and recording some acoustic tracks for Xfm Scotland, although I did have a sore throat which made it a bit more difficult than usual. We capped off the day with a meal at a delightful Scottish restaurant.

Before we go though, I'd like to draw your attention to the 'Lily Allen and Friends' show on BBC3 next Tuesday, which we'll be playing on – if we get enough votes in the head-to-head! Please help us out by voting at http://www.bbc.co.uk/lilyallen/vote.shtml

Thank you all for reading; more Clocks news soon.

      Wednesday 5 March 2008

Last Wednesday's gig in Oxford went well. We were first on so the room was a little on the quiet side to start with but it soon filled up. Before the gig we failed to find any paper to write our set lists on so we improvised, using paper plates. They actually turned out to be pretty popular with the crowd.

That same night we found out that our new video for 'Old Valve Radio' has been play listed on music video channels 'Q', 'The Hits' and 'Box' so keep an eye out for that!
After a day off we headed up to Leicester to play at The Charlotte. Another great gig with an amazing crowd, crowd surfers and all!

The weekend saw us play at Fibbers in York for two days running. Managed to blag us a good deal at the Marriott hotel so had 4 star luxury for a night. Raided the mini bar and found jumping onto the kingsize bed to be a lot of fun.

On the Sunday, had a walk round York and found 'York's best kept secret' Harlequin tea rooms. Very nice too! Also bought more scarf's, as we seem to have developed a habit of losing them.

Had a couple of days off since, more fun soon though.

      Wednesday 27 February 2008

Welcome to the Clocks Blogs online extravaganza! Right, are you sitting comfortably? (We're sitting on the tourbus bound for Oxford for the show tonight – I'd say it is semi-comfortable.) We played in hometown London last night at KCLSU which was particularly nice as the crowd were great and the dressing room had a piano in it, which helped us with our vocal warm-ups.

If I had to say one thing about the venue, it would be that the pear cider wasn't quite up to scratch, it just wasn't Kopparberg. But don't let that stop you visiting in future, it's a nice place with attractive views over the Thames.

We left the venue for a bit on a search for Blu-Tack for our posters and were thrilled to find a 30% extra free pack for a tiny £1.29 so got a couple of those. Although we only had 45 minutes before our soundcheck, we couldn't simply walk past Pizza Express on the Strand in our hungry state so went in and quietly let our waitress know we were in a hurry.

The show went down well and we can't wait to play in London again. Not long to wait now.

Thanks for reading. The next update will be on its way soon…
